Exciting New Faces in Sri Lanka’s T20I Squad for Bangladesh Series

In a thrilling development for cricket fans, Dasun Shanaka, Chamika Karunaratne, and Dunith Wellalage have been selected for the Sri Lanka T20I team for the very first time. Adding to the excitement, Eshan Malinga has also been included in the squad for the upcoming series against Bangladesh.

Several players, including Bhanuka Rajapaksa, Asitha Fernando, and Chamindu Wickramasinghe, who missed Sri Lanka’s last T20 International against New Zealand over six months ago, have made their way back into the lineup. Sri Lanka Cricket (SLC) officially announced a 17-man roster on Monday, July 7.

Fast bowler Malinga has made a significant impact in his T20 career, claiming 40 wickets in just 27 appearances, with an impressive average of 18.22. He showcased his talent as one of the standout performers for Sunrisers Hyderabad during a challenging IPL season earlier this year, where he secured seven wickets across 13 matches at a commendable strike rate of 12.31.

Leading the team is Charith Asalanka, guiding a talented group as they prepare for the three-match series, which also serves as a crucial stepping stone towards the upcoming T20 World Cup set to be held in India and Sri Lanka in just over six months.

The much-anticipated series will take place in Pallekele and Dambulla from July 10 to July 16, concluding in Colombo.
