Hey there, busy professionals! We know how crucial Microsoft 365 is for your daily operations, and it can be incredibly stressful when things don’t go as planned. Recently, a significant service outage left IT administrators across North America in a bit of a frenzy as access to the Microsoft 365 admin center was disrupted. This portal is essential for managing business accounts, users, and services effectively.
On February 10, Microsoft acknowledged the situation, confirming that many business and enterprise users faced difficulties signing in, while others experienced sluggish performance and limited capabilities once logged in. Microsoft categorized this as a service incident—a term they use when customer impact is significant.
What Microsoft Has to Say
In a recent update, Microsoft stated, “Some users in the North America region may be unable to access the Microsoft 365 admin center. We’re reviewing service monitoring telemetry to isolate the root cause and develop a remediation plan.” It seems the issue is primarily affecting North America, although the exact number of impacted organizations remains unclear.
Reports from outage tracking platforms suggested thousands of users experienced login failures, connection issues, and a painfully slow admin portal. To make matters worse, this disruption also extended to the Microsoft 365 (M365) app, limiting alternative ways for administrators to monitor services or submit support tickets. Microsoft is actively collecting telemetry data to pinpoint the cause of these issues.
As Microsoft noted, “Users able to access the admin center may be experiencing degraded functionality. As functionality is degraded, users may be unable to raise support tickets through the Microsoft 365 admin center. Additionally, users may be unable to access the M365 app.” The team is diligently analyzing diagnostic data from the admin center infrastructure, focusing on usage patterns and CPU utilization levels to address the problem.
A Pattern We Know Too Well
This isn’t the first time we’ve seen issues like this with Microsoft 365. Just over a year ago, a critical service outage blocked login attempts and restricted access to Microsoft 365 services and the admin center. In July 2025, another outage resulted in frustrating “Runtime Error” messages, locking users out once again. Recently, Microsoft also faced challenges with Microsoft Store and Windows Update services following a power outage that led to installation failures.
For many IT professionals who depend on Microsoft’s cloud ecosystem, these repeated disruptions are starting to feel less like isolated incidents and more like a troubling pattern. We understand the frustration; it can feel like a constant battle to keep everything running smoothly!
Investigation in Progress
As of now, Microsoft has not provided technical specifics or an estimated timeline for a complete resolution. The company promises to keep users informed through its official service health channels as engineers work diligently to isolate and rectify the issue. While full functionality remains elusive, thousands of IT administrators find themselves partially or completely locked out of the very systems designed to keep their organizations operating smoothly.
As this situation develops, we will continue to update you with the latest information. Stay strong, and know that you’re not alone in navigating these challenges!
